Hello everyone,
Back along I introduced
our newest feature person, whom you currently see on our website and brochure,
and whom is also very dear to me.
Please
allow me to take a moment now to reintroduce our beloved Dorothy Chapman
(Dot)!...
Dot is a long-time family
friend, who’s known me my entire life since birth. She and my parents were very close friends,
and Dot is like a second mother to me.

Dot told me years ago
that caring for others was my vocation. And because of what Private Home Care, Inc.
stands for: treating others with dignity and respect, Dot also understood my
purpose, believed in our business, and recognized this was my calling (—even
though I didn’t at the time, as I kept avoiding it!). Thus,
she agreed to be the “face” of our company, through various forms of
advertising, including social media.
I grew up with my mother
being physically handicapped due to illness that occurred when she was 24 years
old (viral encephalitis), so much care around the house and with her was like
second nature to me. Dot saw my patience
with her. She readily recalled an
occasion, in particular, when I was about 10 or 11. Our family visited Dot’s
home one summer afternoon. I discovered
a crochet set-up in the back yard and with excitement immediately began playing
the game with my brother. I soon went up
to my mother and asked her to play. Dot
was impressed a child could be so insightful and caring.
A little more about Dot: After
graduating from high school, Dot worked for New
England Telephone Company, which has changed names many time over the
years. She began and continued as a
switchboard operator for 11 years, then 3 years in the Engineering Dept., and
her remaining years working in the Business Office, retiring in 1985.
Dot Chapman is a
life-long Mainer, born in Athens, Maine.
She’s lived most of her life in Waterville. Dot is 92 years young.
Very sincerely, and with
love, Kathy
