Each year the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce surveys its membership and the Belfast area community for awards in business categories, presented at the Annual Meeting.
For 2017 Private Home Care, Inc., was chosen for the Growth Award, sponsored by Smart DataMap Services and Robin’s Nest Consignment, given to a business "that has successfully expanded, renovated, created an innovative new line, or increased employees in the past year."
Here is the acceptance speech from Ellen Hoyt: "Hello, I'm Ellen Hoyt, Executive Assistant at Private Home Care, Inc. I am accepting this award on behalf of Kathy Strout who couldn't be here this evening. I'm joined by part of our Private Home Care, Inc. Management team to accept this "Growth Award"- Susan Smith, Stephanie Carignan, and Jesse Rishani.
Kathy Strout began this journey, founding Private Home Care, Inc. and soon hiring me to assist. We started with four clients and are proud to have grown to over 30 clients and over 35 employees.
As we enter our sixth year, keeping with our mission statement, our purpose was “To grow a home care business with staff who care.” Our goal is to help people live as comfortably and independently as possible in their home, to maintain a solid relationship with clients and staff, and to realize customer services & satisfaction are key to success.
Our vision was to grow in stages, supplying work for each caregiver.
We plan to grow only as large as reasonable, keeping the quality focus clear, while maintaining the work ethic Private Home Care, Inc. is built on. Our management is always involved in client care with proper staffing to ensure the needs of both clients and staff are met.
We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished and Private Home Care, Inc. and want to thank the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce for their recognition.
There is a quote from Maya Angelou which our founder Kathy Strout always refers to: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

In addition to the award, Private Home Care, Inc. was presented with letters of commendation from Senator Angus King and Congressman Bruce Poliquin.
