2018 Hospice Trunk Sale

Private Home Care, Inc. is a proud sponsor and community partner with The Waldo County Hospice Volunteers.  On Saturday, June 16 Private Home Care, Inc. partnered in hosting the 5th annual Trunk Sale at Waldo County General Hospital with the Hospice Volunteers. At 7am vendors started to filter in and get their trunks and tents set up for sales.

There were vendors of many varieties; Quiltmakers selling hand-stitched quilts, local artists with beautiful paintings, plant sales, antique dealers and Avon consultants. There were children peddling baked goods and many other trunks with treasures and so much more.  The Belfast Bay Fiddlers filled the air with move-your-feet music that really set an atmosphere of fun and movement.

Our Volunteers received donations from many people. Some of our consumers donated everything from jewelry and furniture to tools and other valuables. Local businesses gave contributions of food and paper goods to help make this event a success.  Some of our Staff Volunteers manned the grills for breakfast and lunch, while other volunteers sold the donated items and talked about the kind of services that Hospice Volunteers provide. Our community partners, the Midcoast MAINEiacs Robotics Team came from Searsport District High School with Robots to demo and Lemonade to quench the thirst of busy shoppers and onlookers. They sold countless cups of lemonade to help raise funds for the Hospice Volunteers.

At the end of the day, the combined total raised was $2000. The money raised will help provide support services at no cost for patients facing the end of life and support for their families. These services include bereavement supports, educational materials, support groups for adults, teens, and children who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
