Wandering program

Here is Waldo County communications office and Triad put on a wonderful program called the wander’s program. With an aging population in Maine, this program helps so many! Wandering program is designed for the elderly who are prone to wander off. Those with dementia and Alzheimer’s are at a much higher risk to wander off and not be able to explain where they belong. This program gives people the opportunity to give information to the police ahead of time. The reason this is so important is that if someone is found wandering around town confused and dazed the authorities will have a photo on file as well as basic information! Making it easier to find where the confused person should be. Most law enforcement officers have a form that you fill out and include a photo with. This form then becomes an electronic form that the emergency responders have access too. This helps them to know a person’s name, address, and other basic information. One of the best things on the list is also triggers and calmers. These things let emergency responders know that your loved one doesn’t like to be touched or enjoys animals. All this information is helpful, knowing what triggers someone and what helps them to calm down are key components in assisting someone who is already upset or confused.

Not only does Waldo County have an amazing wanders program they also have a call-in program! This program is for senior citizens. A lot of whom live alone. What the program deals with is a senior citizen calls in and has a short hello with dispatch at a certain time each day. If the person does not call in at their certain time then dispatch will call them. If they can't get ahold of them someone will stop by their place to check in on them. This program helps to keep seniors safe! Do you have an elderly neighbor? Do they need someone to help them around the house or just someone to check in each day? Call Private Home Care, Inc. to learn more about these programs as well as how we can help you or your loved ones at home.
